At first glance it may seem like the idyllic situation for any homeowner: Selling a house on the Costa Blanca on the beachfront. Because what could be more attractive than buying a house on the beachfront? Its impressive views, the sea breeze that soothes the high temperatures, its ability to increase in value? Moreover, if the property is on the Costa Blanca, the sale seems to be a guaranteed success.

If we take a look back, the data verifies this statement. According to the report ‘Four Generations, one home’ prepared by the real estate portal pisos.com, beachfront homes on the Costa Blanca have increased in price by 98.87% in the last 10 years, an increase far higher than the national increase of 65.46%.

Buying a frontline beach property on the Costa Blanca in 2024 is 98.87% more expensive than in 2014.

However, according to the report of pisos.com, this sharp price increase could have its days numbered.

Why do young people no longer want a frontline beach home?

Data from the report shows that almost 80% of young people would not buy a beachfront home due to the rising sea level and the consequences this could have on their home.

That sea levels are rising is a reality, a reality that seems to scare younger homebuyers because of their greater commitment to the environment. If during the real estate and tourist boom these properties were the most popular, in the medium term they could become devalued as they are no longer considered a luxury, but rather a danger.

Most valued elements when buying a property

The pisos.com report also offers information on the elements that buyers value most when they see an advert for a property. Among them, as expected, the price stands out. 48% of those surveyed consider the price to be the most valuable element in a property advertisement.

This percentage is even higher in the case of younger buyers. Specifically, 60% of Generation Z (young people between 18 and 27 years old), consider price to be the most important element, a fact that demonstrates once again how this segment of the population is the one that has the most problems when it comes to accessing a home.

The next most valued element is location.

So, what can I do to sell my house on the coast?

We explain how the price of housing is in the area and our forecast

In addition to this increase in prices, what has also been growing over the last few months is the demand: for every property we put on the market we have dozens of buyers interested in it. Added to this situation is the drop in interest rates, which is further helping to revive the interest of even those buyers with less savings.

By this we mean that we are currently at a very good time to sell and, moreover, to do so with high returns. Therefore, if you are thinking about obtaining liquidity for your property, our recommendation is not to wait too long. Right now the market conditions are favourable for selling, but if you wait too long, it is possible that the trends will change as the pisos.com report announces and the sale will not be so advantageous for you.
